Project Description

Tasca is a Portuguese word roughly meaning casual eatery, usually a family-owned local establishment. My client wanted to bring this culturally-rich Portuguese dining experience to American diners. Using a number of materials either from or inspired by Portugal, the space has a clean, upscale feel without breaking my client’s bank. Cork, a major export from Portugal (and a highly sustainable and recyclable product), is used throughout as flooring and wall covering. ESDB provided full interior design services including a copper shelving unit in the front window. This custom fabricated piece provides seating and visual interest from the street, a busy thoroughfare for college students looking for a quick lunch or dinner.
